Sunny Hill Nursing Home Raises Private Pay Rates, Cites Rising Costs

The Sunny Hill Nursing Home Board of Directors approved a modest increase in private pay room rates during their recent meeting. The increase, which will go into effect in early 2025, aims to help the facility cover rising daily operating costs.

Maggie McDow, representing the Friends of Sunny Hill organization, reported the nursing home’s recent fundraising initiatives generated close to $4,000 through a bake sale, barbecue, and holiday craft sale. McDow noted the funds will go towards replacing outdated televisions in residents’ rooms.

The board also reviewed an update on Sunny Hill’s substance use prevention and harm reduction programs. While opioid overdose deaths have declined compared to last year, the facility has seen an increase in naloxone and fentanyl test strip distribution.

Additionally, the board heard a report on the Continuum of Care’s efforts to address homelessness in Will County. Members were encouraged to review the detailed report included in the meeting materials.

Overall, the Sunny Hill Nursing Home board focused on maintaining the facility’s high quality of care and services for residents through prudent financial management and community partnerships.
