Jackson Township Council Advances New Land Use and Safety Measures

The Jackson Township board members took steps to address residential density and public safety concerns at their October 8 meeting, introducing two significant ordinances aimed at development and fire safety.

The council unanimously approved Ordinance 33-24, which will revise residential density standards in the Highway Commercial Mixed-Use Zone. While specific details of the density changes weren’t disclosed during the meeting, Council President Jennifer Kuhn indicated the council would move forward with the measure rather than refer it to the Master Plan Committee.

Additionally, the council introduced Ordinance 34-24, which will modify township code regarding residential fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide inspections. Both ordinances will have public hearings scheduled for October 22.

“Public health and safety of the residents and children always need to be protected,” stated Councilman Nino Borrelli during the meeting.
