Will County Board Recognizes Departing Members After November Election
Three Will County Board members attended their final meeting Thursday, with colleagues praising their combined 12 years of service as they prepare to step down following the November election.
Meta Mueller, who served six years and held multiple leadership positions including Democratic Whip, was recognized for her work chairing several key committees including Capital Improvements and Public Health & Safety. She will be moving to Springfield to work for state legislators.
“I’ve really enjoyed all the things I’ve learned from the staff that supports us and teaches me all the intricacy of the happenings in the county processes,” Mueller said in her farewell remarks.
Natalie Coleman, stepping down after four years, reflected on accomplishments including organizing a toy drive for the Children’s Advocacy Center during COVID-19 and helping secure the Hidden Heroes caregiving designation for Will County, which brought resources to over 10,000 veteran caregivers.
“As a military officer, I live by seven principles: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage,” Coleman said. “Those are the things that’s going to keep me going and serving the community.”
Janet Diaz, who served two years and chaired the Ad Hoc Old Courthouse Committee, was also recognized for her service on multiple committees including Finance and Legislative.
Board Chair Judy Ogalla presented each with commemorative plaques during an early morning ceremony.
